Hotels Near Gare de Lyon and Gare d'Austerlitz: Where to Stay

Early-morning train or late-afternoon arrival? Here are our recommendations for places to stay near the Austerlitz and Gare de Lyon train stations—without having to sleep right in front of the station.
From Austerlitz Station, the Korner Saint-Marcel is about a ten-minute walk away, or one stop on Line 5. From Gare de Lyon, the Korner Châtelet is just one stop away on Line 14 or the RER A, which is often faster than staying right next to the station. In both cases, you’ll be staying in a pleasant neighborhood rather than right in front of the station, where hotels rely on passing travelers and charge accordingly.
Two neighboring train stations, two uses
Gare de Lyon is the train station for TGV trains bound for Lyon, the Alps, Provence, the French Riviera, and Switzerland. It is served by Metro lines 1 and 14 and by RER lines A and D.
Austerlitz Station serves Intercités trains bound for central and southwestern France, as well as the main overnight trains. It is served by Metro lines 5 and 10 and by the RER C.
The two stations are located across from each other on either side of the Seine: it takes about ten minutes to walk from one to the other.
For the Austerlitz Station: the Korner Saint-Marcel
Our hotel, located near the Jardin des Plantes on Boulevard Saint-Marcel in the 13th arrondissement, is our closest location to the Austerlitz train station. It’s about a ten-minute walk via Boulevard de l’Hôpital, or just one stop from Saint-Marcel on Line 5.
The neighborhood is quiet in the evening, just a stone's throw from the Jardin des Plantes and Rue Mouffetard. The hotel also offers family rooms for two adults and two children, which are convenient for those traveling by train to start their vacation. For Gare de Lyon: two options
Stay as close as possible on foot
From Korner Saint-Marcel, Gare de Lyon is about a 20-minute walk across the Seine. By metro, take Line 5 to Bastille, then Line 1 for one stop.
Staying downtown, one stop away
Our hotel near the Marais, on Avenue Victoria, is just a short walk from the Châtelet station. Line 14 and the RER A take you to Gare de Lyon in just one stop, in a matter of minutes. You’ll be staying in the heart of Paris, between Notre-Dame, the Marais, and the Louvre, and you can catch your TGV without any stress.
Line 14 also provides a direct connection between Châtelet and Gare de Lyon and Orly Airport—a convenient option for a trip that combines air and rail travel. Our guide to getting to your hotel from CDG or Orly details all the routes.
For an early-morning train
The subway resumes service around 5:30 a.m. For a very early departure, choose a hotel within walking distance of the train station, or plan to take a taxi. The night before, check your platform number on the SNCF app and make sure your tickets are accessible offline.
If your train leaves in the afternoon, make the most of your last morning in Paris: our hotels will store your luggage for free after you check out of your room, which is scheduled for 12 p.m.
For arrivals late in the day
An evening TGV or a delayed train isn't a problem: most of our hotels have a 24-hour front desk, and our digital guest experience allows you to check in without waiting. Simply provide your estimated arrival time when you book.
When to Book
Around the Gare de Lyon and Gare d'Austerlitz, hotel demand spikes during school vacation departures—whether heading to the Alps in winter or to the south in summer—and during long weekends. Outside of these periods, booking one to two weeks in advance is usually sufficient; for a vacation departure, however, you should plan to book two to three months in advance.
When you book directly on our website, you pay up to 15% less than on booking platforms. To understand the difference, read our article “Booking Directly vs. Through a Platform.”
