Hotels near Gare de Lyon and Gare d'Austerlitz: Where to Stay

Facade of the Gare de Lyon in Paris

Early morning train or late evening arrival? Here are our recommendations for staying near Gare d'Austerlitz and Gare de Lyon, without having to stay right in front of the station.

For Gare d'Austerlitz, the Korner Saint-Marcel is about a ten-minute walk away, or one stop on Line 5. For Gare de Lyon, the Korner Châtelet is just one stop away on Line 14 or the RER A, which is often faster than staying right next to the station. In both cases, you’ll be staying in a pleasant neighborhood rather than right in front of the station, where hotels rely on transient traffic and charge accordingly.

Two neighboring stations, two purposes

Gare de Lyon is the station for TGV trains bound for Lyon, the Alps, Provence, the French Riviera, and Switzerland. It is served by Metro lines 1 and 14 and by RER lines A and D.

The Gare d'Austerlitz serves as a hub for Intercités trains bound for central and southwestern France, as well as major overnight trains. It is served by Metro lines 5 and 10 and by RER line C.

The two stations are located across from each other on opposite sides of the Seine: it takes about ten minutes to walk from one to the other.

For Austerlitz Station: the Korner Saint-Marcel

Our hotel near the Jardin des Plantes, on Boulevard Saint-Marcel in the 13th arrondissement, is our closest location to Gare d'Austerlitz. It’s about a ten-minute walk via Boulevard de l'Hôpital, or one stop from Saint-Marcel on Line 5.

The neighborhood is quiet in the evening, just a stone's throw from the Jardin des Plantes and Rue Mouffetard. The hotel also offers family rooms for two adults and two children, which is convenient for a vacation departure by train. For Gare de Lyon: two options

Staying as close as possible on foot

From the Korner Saint-Marcel, Gare de Lyon is about a twenty-minute walk across the Seine. By metro, take Line 5 to Bastille, then Line 1 for one stop.

Staying in the city center, just one stop away

Our hotel near the Marais, on Avenue Victoria, is just a few steps from the Châtelet station. Line 14 and the RER A reach Gare de Lyon in just one stop, in a matter of minutes. You’ll be staying in the heart of Paris, between Notre-Dame, the Marais, and the Louvre, and can reach your TGV without any hassle.

Line 14 also connects Châtelet and Gare de Lyon directly to Orly Airport: a convenient option for a trip that involves both flying and taking the train. Our guide on getting to your hotel from CDG or Orly details all the routes.

For an early-morning train

The metro starts running again around 5:30 a.m. If you're leaving very early, choose a hotel within walking distance of the station, or arrange for a taxi. The night before, check your platform number on the SNCF app and make sure your tickets are accessible offline.

If your train leaves in the afternoon, make the most of your last morning in Paris: our hotels offer free luggage storage after you check out at 12:00 PM.

For late arrivals

An evening TGV or a delayed train is no problem: most of our hotels have a 24/7 front desk, and our digital guest experience lets you check in without waiting. Just provide your estimated arrival time when you book.
